Neuqua Valley girls soccer coach Joe Moreau feeling good about his team’s 3 and 1 performance in the Naperville Invitational as the Wildcats face Metea Valley in conference play, the game was moved to Metea Valley due to flooding on the Neuqua soccer fields.
First Half
Early in the first half Wildcats on the attack as Piper Biziorek drives along the right side but Nikki Coryell cuts off her shot to snag the save.
Ten minutes into the game, Julia Rushing gets a clear shot off a loose ball and puts a lot of English on it, but Nikki Coryell tracks it and punches the ball out of play.
Later in the half, Shannon Tagler with a great pass ahead to Julia Rushing, who looks to hit Piper Biziorek in front of the net, but again Coryell with the quick reaction to knock the ball away and deny the Wildcats.
First half winding down, Biziorek taps the ball ahead to Alison Dovalovsky, who has a shot at point blank range but the Mustang keeper is equal to it, picking up another save.
Second Half
Into the 2nd half, Nicole Dawson with the corner for Metea, Paige Buranosky can’t quite get a foot on it and Tara Tesmond grabs the ball out of the crowd to keep the game scoreless.
30 minutes to play, Shannon Tagler’s pass finds the head of Danielle Hopkins, but Coryell is there for yet another save.
Another corner opportunity for Dawson and MV, Paige Buranosky heads it towards the net, Shannon Tagler with the heads up play to block it, Katy Flanders with the attempt that glances off the knee of keeper Tara Tesmond and out of play, Wildcats keep Metea off the board.
22 minutes to go, Tagler with a long downfield pass to Alison Dovalovsky who tracks it down and centers for Piper Biziorek, the junior makes a move and fires a shot just beyond the reach of Coryell into the net. That would be the game winner and Neuqua moves to 2-0 in DVC play after a highlighy competitive 1-0 victory.
