Neuqua Valley hosting the girls water polo sectionals as the 4 seed St Charles East will play the five seed Metea Valley in the sectional quarterfinals.
First Half
Not much offense in the early going thanks to great goal tending, Grace Kos Dondlinger with a shot for the Saints, but Aimee Patterson is ready for the save to keep the game scoreless.
Later in the first quarter, Lucy Siwicki with the pass to Lanie Patterson who’s shot floats into the corner of the net for the first goal of the night.
Near the end of the first, Lucy Siwicki with the breakaway, she then outlasts Saints goalie Brianna DiCicco and gets the goal to go 2-0 Mustangs.
Still in the first half, Aimee Patterson ahead to sister Lanie, who finds Rylee Stone who gives MV a three goal lead.
Later in the half, Rylee Stone tries to get another goal to go, but Brianna DiCicco snags the save to keep St. Charles close.
Near the end of the half, Stone tracks down a loose ball and plays a bit of possum, quickly unleashing a shot that finds the net. Metea Valley up 4-0 at the break.
Second Half
Into the second half, Lanie Patterson throws the ball ahead to Lucy Siwicki who glides in for the goal, Mustangs pulling away up 5-0.
4th quarter and Leah Marty gets a pass off to Lanie Patterson for her second goal to build the lead to a half dozen.
Last chance for the Saints to get on the board as Olivia Furmanek shoots, but Aimee Patterson preserves the shutout. Mustangs advance to face the top seed Naperville North in the sectional semi finals after a 6-0 win.
