Another valley school rivalry on the pitch at Waubonsie. The warriors sit 2-2 on the year as Metea Valley is 2-1-1. Both teams looking to use this game as a final tune up before the post season begins.
First Half
And Metea jumps right in to it. From the freekick, the ball drops to Metea’s Alex Krehls feet. His shot takes a deflection and then curves in to the back of the net to open up scoring in the 12th minute.
Waubonsie on the offensive now. Diego Carrillo gets the feed and then fires but his shot is swallowed up by Ghandi Cruz.
The mustangs look to double their score still in the first half. Krehl at it again but Bryan Grimaldo uses his body to block the shot.
Under three minutes left until the break, and Metea Valley still on the offensive move. Jacob Tune tracks down the ball and fires but Grimaldo again stops the shot.
Second Half
In to the second half, off the long freekick Mustang Abraham Antar gets his foot high enough but Grimaldo is there again to stop the shot.
Metea just not going away but neither is the warrior net minder. Jacob Tune bends one to the top shelf but… you guessed it, Grimaldo with the jumping punch to keep WV in it.
Corner kick for Waubonsie with under four minutes left in the game. The ball bounces around until Warrior Dan Morgan finds it near the back post and puts it into the net to even up the game at 1 a piece.
Over Time
We now go to the second overtime where Metea Valley’s Davis Quarles finds himself one on one against Grimaldo but the trust goal keeper comes up with the huge save as this DVC match up ends in a 1-1 tie.
