Bring on the Mustangs

Attention is all in the details in the Metea Valley wrestling room with new head coach Matt Long.

John Baker is a captain along with Sean Burke and they both have bought in to Long’s new way of coaching. This is his first year leading the wrestling program, but with the two seniors helping him, he believes they are off to a good start.

Matt SOT: I think they understand how I am, they understand how I coach. I can’t do this alone. I can’t have only my coaches do it, they need to buy in, they need to have ownership over the team and that should convey from the leaders and the captains all the way down to the freshman.

With the season almost one third of the way through, the goals are set and in sight for the remaining two months

But in order to achieve those goals, practices have to remain competitive, focuses need to be persistent, and attention will stay on the details.
