Who doesn’t love a little cross town rivalry on the tennis courts, huh? In their first conference meet of the season, Naperville Central travels to Naperville North.
#1 Singles
We start in number one singles with Central’s Joseph Li against North’s Samuel Liu.
Li takes the first set 6-4 and it seems that he is ready to take the second as well. He lasers one past Liu for the point.
Still in the second, Liu showing he has some power too and Li isn’t able to return, point for the huskie.
After exchanging some hard hits, Li changes directions and Liu and Sam looses his footing. Li takes the two set match 6-4 6-2.
#2 Singles
We go up one to #2 singles with North’s Zach Slade against Central’s David Wang.
After Wang took the first set 6-4, Slade is determined in the second. The guys battle back and fourth until Wang places a corner shot that Slades returns out of bounds.
Still in the second, Slade ot giving up. He back hands a short one and Wang can’t return it, forcing a third set after Slade takes the second 6-2.
And in that third set, Wang proves to be too much. He slaps one past the reach of Slade to the third and the match.
#1 Doubles
We pick up a partner for doubles with North’s Preston Chao and Tarun Vellenhi against Naveen Ramakrishnan and Ammaar Saeed.
First set and Huskie Preston Chao would hit it over the heads of the redhawks and land the perfect shot but the redhawsk would take the first set 6-0.
Second set and Ramakrishnan and Saeed take over after the huskies can’t return a hit. Redhawks win the second and the match 6-0, 6-3.
#2 Doubles
Last match for us is the #2 doubles with Ryan Guan and Vincent Lee of North and Blake Roegner and Daanyal Saeed. Another Redhawk victory in the first set as the huskies fail to return the attack.
Second set and it’s Redhawk domination again. Raanyal ends the set with a powerful hit helping the Redhawks to an overall victory on the day in sweeping fashion, 7-0.
