#2 seeded Neuqua Valley travels to 5th seeded Naperville Central for a DVC showdown and a regional final game against the Redhawks.
First Half
10th minute and the cats have a free kick. Senior Shannon Tagler sends the missile to the net but off the bounce, goes just wide to keep the game scoreless.
About midway throw the first half and the Redhawks get a good look. Emma Irle centers it to Maddie Mills but her head nudges the ball just outside of the post and the board stays empty.
About ten minutes left until intermission. Wildcat Julia Rushing splits a pair of defenders and fires but Amber Hunter dives to make the save.
8 minutes left in the first now. Hawks with the free kick. Alyssa Lanzo shows off her left but Tara Tesmond reads it and its handled. This game goes to halftime scoreless.
Second Half
Sun peaking out in the second half, Emma Irle moving down the sideline but Paige Munar makes the slide to stop the play and a potential goal.
Just minutes later, hawks with another free kick. The cats try to clear it but Liz Barker puts the ball back in the right direction for Caroline Reedy to handle the rest and now the hawks lead 1-0.
Halfway through the second, cats down by one and trying to put pressure on but Hunter shows she isn’t faced and grabs the ball off the bounce to stop the threat.
Neuqua with another free kick, Danielle Hopkins takes aim but the Redhawk wall stops the ball. The next attempt sails over the net to keep Central in the lead.
Only minutes left and Neuqua trying to extend their season. Shannon Tagler centers but Hunter secures the ball and the Naperville Central victory. They win consecutive regional championships and move on to face Waubonsie Valley.
