After all the rain Naperville has seen this week, we finally get some softball action as Naperville Central travels to Neuqua Valley. The Redhawks won this match up just over a week ago 5-3 at home and look to grab another win away.
First Inning
We start in the bottom of the first, Neuqua’s Sophia Remsik at the plate with a runner at second. Remsik cracks one to right for the double to bring in Chloe Steinhaus. Cats up early 1-0.
Still in the first, bases juiced with Bailey Clark up. She slaps one high over the center fielders head and brings in all three of her wildcat teammates, Neuqua opening this one up, leading 5-0 at the end of 1.
Third Inning
Cats up in the third now, specifically Abby Stankus. Halle Arends on the mound for the Redhawks stretches out for the bunt to grab one out. She tosses it to first to compete the double play and end the inning.
Fourth Inning
Top of the 4th now, Central’s Olivia Baluan at the dish. It’s the wildcats turn to make the defensive save, Steinhaus at short stop nabs the ball out of the air for the out… she looks pretty shocked at what she just did.
Clouds coming in in the bottom of the fourth. Kelsey O’Connor pulls one to third where Jacqui Abogado looses track of the ball. O’Connor reaches on the error and Steinhaus comes in making it 7-0 cats.
Next batter up is Bailey Clarke. She hits one just over Kaitlyn Allen to left center for the double, two more cats cross the plate, 9-0 now.
Fifth Inning
Bottom of the fifth and Chloe Steinhaus looks to close this book with a runner on third. She cracks one deep into right field which is enough to bring in Hannah Meeks to trigger the mercy rule and Neuqua gets revenge with a 10-0 victory in 5 innings.
