We travel to Waubonsie Valley with the Naperville Central Redhawks who don the baby blue uniforms for a Saturday matinee.
First Inning
Ryan Mutz on the bump for Waubonsie and he runs in to trouble in the first after giving up a double, Dino Biggers cracks one to left bringing in a run, 1-0 hawks.
Still in the top of the first, Nathan Brinker hits a bouncer to the grass for the RBI, Hawks double their lead 2-0.
Bottom of the first now, runners in the corners, Cole Gregorio getting the team moving with a double bringing in Will Jaynes, Warriors cutting the lead in half.
Still bottom of 1, tied at 2s now, Mutz pops one up but the Redhawks seem to lose it in the sun, Gregorio crosses the plate but Mutz gets caught at second ending the inning, warriors up 3-2.
Third Inning
Little bit of chaos in the bottom of the third, WV with a runner in scoring position and Dan Esch slaps one to left, Redhawks go for the cutoff but the throw is off line, Esch goes to second at the same time Jaynes comes home, 4-2 warriors now.
New pitcher for the hawks, still bottom of 3, Jim Keppler doubles to right, bringing in Esch, just another of their 5 runs they scored in the third, it’s 8-2 now.
Fifth Inning
Top of the fifth now, WV up 9-5, Redhawk Joe Morsano with a runner at third, he hits a sac fly for the RBI, Redhawks within reach now 9-6.
Still top of 5, Diggers up to bat with a runner at 2nd, He is 3 for 3 on the day with 2 RBIs including this one that narrows the warrior lead, 9-7.
Seventh Inning
But the Redhawks couldn’t make the full comeback. Morsano, in the 7th tries to get a rally going but grounds out, ending the game, Waubonsie takes the victory 9-7.
