We get two of the best soccer teams in the state facing off for a Saturday afternoon game at Morton. Naperville North, the three time defending state champions have some new faces on the team after losing big time goalie Tom Welch to graduation.
First Half
New huskie goal Jason Barba getting his feet wet quick. Scoreless in the first half, and he scoops up the shot to keep the scoreboard empty early on.
But a little later, Morton finds what they were looking for. Christian Perez fires a shot and gets the goal to go. Leading 1-0.
Time winding down in the first half and north looking to even up the game. Off a corner kick, the huskies manage a shot but Andres Calderon snatches it to keep Morton in the lead at the break.
Second Half
In to the second half, Ty Kondrad pushing down the field until he gets tripped up in the box resulting in a penalty kick.
On with that kick that slides right in to the corner of the net, the huskies tie the game up at 1 a piece.
But Morton would get lucky later in the half… Jason Barba knocks away the first attempt but then Romario Iniguez gets the second one to find twine to put Morton in the lead once more. And they would hold on to that, giving Naperville North their first loss in over 45 games.
