Girls Lacrosse Sectional Final and it’s the 3rd meeting this season between Neuqua Valley and Naperville North. The Wildcats won both regular season meetings while the Huskies ended the Wildcats season in this game last year.

 

First Half

Huskies up 3-2 early in the 1st half. Caroline Perkins finds a cutting Brenda Anderson in the middle. She scores to tie the game at 3.

Shortly after Mary Tuskey bounces to the outside and zips the shot past Stephanie Eichamer to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead.

Wildcats with the ball in transition. Brenda Anderson to Christine Corbin to put Neuqua up 6-5.

A couple seconds remaining in the half. Lauren Reitzel bounces the shot past Sciabica at the buzzer. Neuqua holds a 7-5 lead at the break.

 

Second Half

Huskies have to get something going in the 2nd half. Audrey Johnson does it all herself, going right by the teeth of the defense to cut the Neuqua lead to 1.

All knotted at 9. Reitzel with the ball off a restart and the soft bouncer takes a big hop over the stick of Sciabica to give Neuqua a 1 goal lead.

Wildcats up 11-10 with 3 minutes to go, but the Huskies won’t go away quietly. Kate Burritt drives, spins by a defender and scores for the equalizer. 5th goal of the game for Burritt.

2 and a half to play, still tied at 11. Caroline Perkins is determined to go to the Super Sectional. She splits a pair of defenders for the go ahead goal.

Final minute. Ella Marschitz with a penalty shot, but she waits too long to shoot and the Wildcats pounce on it. That sends the Wildcats to Super Sectionals against St Charles.
