Senior night at Naperville North for the final regular season game for boys basketball, however Tommy Welch is nursing a back injury and is out while the Wildcats are without leading scorer John Poulakidas.
Early in the first, North’s Grant Johnson passes to Netzah Aldana who nails the three pointer. North up 6-1.
Only two minutes played in to the first, Myles Berry heads in on the attack and hits the 3 in transition. 11-3 North, queing a neuqua time out.
Wildcats look to get back into the game, working the ball around the perimeter and Donovan Navarro hits Connor Davis at the top of the key for 3. North leads 13-9 at the end of the first.
2 minutes into the 2nd, Myles Barry drives, goes behind the back, spins and then hits the jumper… every tool in the shed for 2 points. North up by 7.
230 left in the 2nd. Sentwali Nalls steals the ball from Myles Barry and scores. Neuqua trailing by just 1.
Seconds ticking down in the 2nd, Myles Barry, making up for getting the ball stolen, drains the long 2 just before the buzzer for North to have the lead going into the locker room.
Opening minutes of the third, Neuqua’s Mark Gronowski drives and kicks it out to Sentwali Nalls in the corner for the triple. Neuqua trailing again by just 1.
North leading by 4 with 4 minutes left in the third, Liam Kim passes to an open Riley Thompson for three points, extending the Huskie lead, 29-22.
This inbound plays works quite nicely for the huskies. Netzah Aldona gets the ball and rainbows in the three as North goes on a 12 and 0 run, leading 34-26 at the end of the third.
The Huskies would continue working well into the fourth. Riley Thompson in the corner for three seals the North victory as they cut down the net, capturing the DVC crown for the 2nd straight season.
