We’ve got a heated DVC battle on our hands on a cold fall night at Naperville North. The Neuqua Valley Wildcats come in looking to clinch the DVC title with a win, as they sit 6-1 on the year.

First Quarter

Neuqua in the redzone early in the first quarter. 2nd and goal and Armani Moreno punches in the first touchdown of the night, 7-0 cats.

North looking to respond, QB Anthony Gabrione finds receiver Damian Welch wide open for a 48 yard touchdown. Huskies tie things up at 7 still in the first quarter.

Both teams working offensively. Time winding down in the first, first and ten from the 14 and Mark Gronowski sees a hole and decides to see where it leads. He finds pay dirt to give neuqua a 14-7 lead.

Second Quarter

Early in the second quarter and North looking to keep things even. 4th and 10 from the 20 and the huskies draw a huge passing interference call as Gabrione tries to connect with Matt Maschmeier in the end zone. Huskies refresh with the first down.

And they would take advantage. Maschmeier gets the direct snap and forces his way in to the endzone to tie things up again, 14-14.

The wildcats just keeping their foot on the gas. Late second Q and Neuqua in the redzone again… and it’s Moreno again. He puts the cats back up by 7, 21-14.

North is still not fazed by Neuqua’s offense as they are on another drive of their own…. That is until Gabrione’s pass is intercepted by Sean Larkin. The cats defense makes a huge play right before half and go into the locker room leading 24-14.

Third Quarter

Early third quarter and it’s more of the same from the wildcats. Mark Gronowski calls his own number again and absolutely bruises his way to pay dirt on this run. The cats extending their lead 31-14.

After an onside kick, neuqua looks to put the game out of reach. Armani Moreno breaks away from a couple defender, getting brought down to the 3 yard line after the 29 yard run.

The cats then reward Moreno with his third tuddie of the game as NV extends their lead 38-17.

Last seconds of the third quarter and the huskies try to make a play to stay in it. Gabrione throws one up and wildcat Donovan Navarro chooses a good time to make his first interception of the year. This one ices the game and the Neuqua Valley Wildcats go on to clinch the DVC title, 45-14.
