Neuqua Valley heads up north for week 2 as the Wildcats storm the field at 1-0 to take on Stevenson. The Patriots got the better of the Wildcats in their meeting last season.
First Half
Opening drive of the game. Mark Gronowski drops back and drops a dime into the arms of Sean Larkin for a 24 yard TD pass and the Wildcats lead 7-0.
Ensuing drive, the Patriots are inside the red zone. Justin Hiller throws across his body to Jordan Vincent and he takes to the house to even the game at 7 and that’s the score heading to the 2nd quarter.
Wildcats with the ball at the 1 and Armani Moreno plunges his way into the end zone from a yard out as NV retakes the lead 14-7.
Under 2 to play until halftime. Justin Hiller takes a shot down field for Jordan Vincent and he scampers his way down inside the 10 yard line.
On the next play Jean-Marc Etienne takes the handoff and bounces it to the outside and hits the pylon for the touchdown and it’s 14-14 at halftime.
Second Half
Early in the 3rd the Patriots are punting from their own 1 inch line leaving no room for error. Matthew Spilotro boots the ball right off his own lineman and Julius Earl pounces on it at the 2 yard line.
Armani Moreno takes advantage of the great field position and hurdles his way into the end zone for his 2nd score of the game and the Wildcats are back on top 21-14.
The back and forth continues mid way through the 3rd. Justin Hiller once again throws one up for Vincent and the senior comes down with the ball picking up 45 yards down to the 24 yard line.
2nd and goal at the 9 and Hiller calls on his own number as he runs right up the middle to pay dirt on the QB Option to knot this game at 21 heading to the 4th quarter.
Neuqua with the ball at the 9 early in the 4th. They once again hand the ball off to Armani Moreno and he bulldozes his way through the Patriots defense for his 3rd touchdown run of the night and Neuqua has a 28-21 advantage.
Wildcats trying to run out the clock, but the face 4th and 14 from their own 12. Mark Gronowski goes with the gutsy decision, trying a fake punt run and picking up 16 yards to move the chains. Neuqua Valley is able to run out the clock and improve to 2-0 on the season.
