Fox Bend golf course in Oswego is the host of the boys golf regional. Will Troy and Waubonsie Valley looking to build upon a Dupage Valley Conference championship less than a week ago at the Oswego East Regional.
7th Hole
Metea Valley also competing in the regional and on the 7th hole, sophomore Aman Shah gets this lengthy putt to fall. Shah with a team best round of 79 on the day, he moves on to sectionals as an individual.
Also on the 7th is fellow Mustang sophomore Arjun Vayas, this chip lands close to the pin and sets up a par. Vayas also moves on to the sectional after an 83.
9th Hole
Will Troy strong on the front 9 as he ends it on the 9th hole with an even par 36, right in the hunt for the top score as usual.
11th Hole
Moving to the 11th hole on the back 9, Oswego playing well as a team. Blake Ginn with a nice par putt here as the Panthers finish tied for 2nd as a team and qualify for sectionals for the first time ever!
15th Hole
15th hole, one of the toughest par 3’s on the course, Ben Klimenko thinks he’s got it solved with a birdie, but it just rims out. He taps in for par and puts up a very strong 3 over 75.
Still on 15 as another Mustang moving on to sectionals, Vignesh Swarnum taps in for par on the hole and an 82 on the day to advance.
The back 9 gave many players trouble, but Will Troy handled it well, another par on 15 helps the Warrior to a top score of 71, one under par on the day.
18th Hole
18th hole and the final Metea Valley golfer secures his place in the sectionals next week, Scott Madland runs this chip up close and ends his day with an 80.
Waubonsie Valley has shown strong depth all season and performances like this from Alex Wiley continues the trend. Look at this brilliant chip. The junior would birdie from there and finish with a 79, 2nd best score on the team.
Jacob Fritz looking to finish strong on 18 and he does with a nice birdie putt to end the day. Fritz puts up an 80 as Waubonsie ties with Oswego for 2nd with a team score of 313.
Wheaton Warrenville South hangs on for the team regional championship by a single stroke with a 312. Dhilan Desai with a great chip and putt for birdie on 18. The Tigers move on as a team along with Waubonsie and Oswego East to next week’s sectional in Glen Ellyn.
