Waubonsie Valley, in search of their first regional championship in over a decade and who hold the 3 seed, face off against the Plainfield North at Andrew High School.
We pick things up with a tie game in the second quarter and waubonsie looking to really get things going. Derrian Porter finds Eric Cannon for the 3 and he buries it, 22-19.
Clock ticking down in the second, Derrien Poter decides to keep the ball this time.. looking to make the last shot and he gets it to go for 3, Waubonsie walks into the locker room 28-21.
Into the third, Plainfield North still fighting, Connor bridges with the strong drive and finish, cutting the warrior lead to 9.
Waubonsie answers… or better yet, marcus skeete answers, pulls the three from the corner, 35-23.
Plainfield north needing to make some plays in the fourth quarter. Connor bridges does just that with a fading jumper in the lane, tigers trail 8.
A few plays later and it’s bridges again! With a steal and a lay up this time huge play for the tigers to cut the lead to 5.
But the warriors were ready for a battle, Mason Marinelli finds porter for the layup extending the warrior lead 52-45.
Eric Cannon, at the line, puts the game on ice for the warriors, giving Waubonsie Valley their first regional championship in 11 years. They move on to play Oswego East in the Sectional Semifinals.
