Oswego high school the regional site for Plainfield South and Waubonsie Valley boys soccer going head to head in the regional semis. WV won the matchup between the two last month by a 2-1 score.

First Half

The 5th seeded Warriors look to get on the board via corner kick early, the ball finds the foot of sophomore Zach Stanley, but his shot is knocked away by the Cougars defense and the game remains scoreless.

Later in the first half, Josue Jimenez with a free kick that just clears the Warriors wall of defenders but Bryan Grimaldo is right there for the save.

Another chance for WV when Milan Erastus-Obilo heads it over to Noah Glorioso, who gives it back to Milan, but the shot is snagged by Cougar goalie Robin Coetzee.

A few minutes later, Javi Gonzalez on the free kick, the ball clears the D and finds Adrien Mehra who finds the net for the opening goal of the game.

Near the end of the first half, Erastus-Obilo with a nice cross field pass to Dan Morgan, but the shot is too strong and sails over the cross bar.

Second Half

First five minutes of the second half, another free kick of Gonzalez, the ball deflects off a mass of bodies, allowing Freddy Paniagua to fly in and knock the ball in for the goal. 2-0 Waubonsie Valley.

Just a couple minutes later, a free kick for Plainfield and Josue Jimenez with a great ball to senior Ryan Kaybaker who heads it past Grimaldo, Cougars trail 2-1 in a blink.

Warriors look to get that one back, Zach Stanley leaves a pass to Noah Glorioso, but a great save from Coetzee at point blank range keeps it a 2-1 game

Plainfield South still in search of the equalizer with another free kick, but Grimaldo skies high for the save to retain the lead.

Under ten minutes to play, Glorioso with a great move to shake a pair of defenders, his pass finds Erastus-Obilo for the shot, Diego Carillo taps it in for the goal as Waubonise extends the lead to 3-1.

Under 6 to play, Milan Erastus-Obilo on the breakaway, he feeds Javi Gonzalez who boots the 4th Warriors goal of the game into the top of the net. Waubonsie Valley advances to the regional final to take on Oswego on Saturday afternoon.
