Simeon High School faces off against Benet Academy who hosting the regional Finals, sitting in the 3 spot.
The wolverines coming out hot early.. Sophomor Khaniah Gardner gets the rebound and hits the put back to put the blue and white up 4-0.
Benet trying to respond as quick as possible. Ashley Konkle with the sharp pass to Brooke Schranek who turns and shoots. Benet trailing by 2.
Into the 2nd quarter and Simeon trying to break away. Jada Thorpe gets her won rebound and puts it back up for 2. Simeon leads 27-24.
Benet proving their worth.. Kendal Holmes drives hard and gets the hoop and harm. The Redwings take their first lead of the game, 30-29.
Into the third and Simeon taking the lead right back. Gardner drives and gets the lay up. The sophomore had 28 points on the night as they lead 41-39.
Redwings doing what they do best though.. Lauren Stack with the tough rebound and the put back with the foul.. BA takes the lead again 46-45.
Just second left in the third, Simeon scrambling to get the shot off.. Jaliyah McCain gets it to go at the buzzer for the wolverines to regain the lead 49-48.
Back and fourth battle into the fourth… Simeon looking to shut the door… Aneesha Morrow with a huge layup, pushing their lead up 61-56.
But Benet is just not ready to let their season end. Lindsey Rodgers gets the tough finish, wings trailing by just 3.
1 minute left Benet down one. Coach Kilbridge draws up a play for Kendal Holmes to take the lead and she drills it. Benet up 2 points 66-64.
Simeon’s last chance with 15 seconds left down 3. They try to get a quick 2 but Ashley Konkles saves it and gets it to Brooke Schramek who gets fouled… we toes the line to ice the game and she goes just that… Benet wins the regional 71-66 and moves on to play Whitney Young in the sectional semi-finals.
