#1 seeded Benet Academy facing off against St Francis in the Regional Semifinals at Glenbard South. The Redwings come in to this game 13-1 and 2 on the year and look to start their post season with a big win.
First Half
19th minute of the game and the Redwings looking to score. Thomas Miskin with the long range shot finds twine but the goal is called off because another redwing was offsides. We stay scoreless.
Second Half
We move to the second half where things start to get interesting. Benet with a penalty kick and Nick Renfro will be the one to put it away, Redwings now on the board 1-nil.
The wings look to extend their lead, with 28 minutes left on the clock, they finds the back off the net off a header, but again, it’s called a no goal due to offsides.
St Francis looking to even it up with24 minutes left in the game. Frank Marisco gets a shot off but Vito Staniskis falls on the ball to keep the wings in the lead.
BA keeping their foot on the gas midway through the second half. Hans Haenicke shakes a defender and then lets a low shot off that finds the corner of the net to double the wings lead, 2-0.
60th minute and the wings… well they are still working. Benet’s Christopher Mankowski whips in a cross the finds the head of Michael Rocco. The angle is perfect to find the back of the net and now the wings lead 3-nil.
Just a few minutes later, the wings again with a penalty kick and this time it’s Sam Hepburn who steps up and tucks it away. The wings take the 4-0 victory and move on to play Fenton in the Regional Finals.
