State Semifinal game at Hoffman Estates High School with the 20-1-2 Benet Academy Redwings facing off against St. Laurence High School. The winner advances to the state final to face the defending champion: Crystal Lake South.
First Half
Early in the first and Benet on the offensive. Hans Haenicke fires a beautiful pass to TJ McVey but the shot attempt sails just over the net.
Halfway through the first half and the redwings are on the attack again. This time they get one to go as Michael Rocco is in the right place at the right time to put the Redwings up 1-0.
Still first half, and Benet Academy’s Tom Miskin hits a free kick in to the box where senior Nick Augustyn is able to chip just over the arms of the goalie to put the redwings up 2-0 going in to half time!
Second Half
The second half is all anout defense for Benet Academy. They are able to shutout St. Lauren on the day and advance to the state final! The Redwings have only allowed four goals on the season as they move on to face Crystal Lake South in the championship.
