Second meeting taking place between The Valley and Neuqua Valley… Wildcats entering with a chance to claim the outright DVC title with a win.
First Half
Opening face off on a sunny day and Brenda Anderson wins possession. Here she comes racing up the field… she makes one cut… and completes her journey by finding the back of the net. Just like that, 1-0 NV.
21 minutes to go in the first half, The Valley’s Whitney Kueltzo makes a move and sends in the bouncer to knot the game up at 1.
Neuqua on the attack just a minute later and passing it around the horn. Lauren Reitzel finding Christine Corbin, who flies by three defender en route to a goal. Neuqua up 2-1.
No rest for the Wildcats after giving up a game-tying goal. Lauren Reitzel is met by a wall of defenders only to stop, pop, and finish with a top-shelf goal. 3-2 Neuqua
Just 10 minutes to go in the opening half and Whitney Kueltzo curls around the back of the net before leaving it behind for Ragan Kueltzo… and she does the rest. Match all tied at 3.
Time dwindling until intermission… Christine Corbin gets the pass, jukes a defender, finds some open space and hops it over the stick of the goalie. Neuqua leads 5-3.
Now just a few ticks left to try and score, and that’s precisely what Neuqua will do. Courtney Costello finds Allie Zeiler and with just 9 second on the clock, NV increases the lead to 6-3.
Second Half
Second half of play now and The Valley hoping to bounce back after four straight Wildcat tallies. This will help! Caitlin Beacom dishes to a cutting Audra Thompson, making it a 7-4 game.
21 minutes to go in the game, Neuqua leads 7-4. Caroline Perkins patiently waits before making a nice spin move and slipping it past the net-minder. 8-4 Wildcats.
