The annual Naperville North twilight Invite finds the host Huskies looking to bring home the team championship once again as schools like Downers Grove South, Yorkville and Hinsdale Central hope to take the title in 2019.
The Race
After the first 400 meters of the race, it’s a tight pack but Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West is right near the front to nobody’s surprise.
A little over a mile in, Hart has built a leas over Ava Parekh of Lain, Lianna Surtz of Rosary and Naperville North top runner, Maggie Gamboa. Gamboa’s teammate Campbell Peterson has recovered from her preseason injury, but was held out of this race because of an illness.
Past the two mile mark, Hart continues to extend her lead over Parekh, Surtz and Gamboa, around the top ten are Ashley Heidenrich from Waubonsie Valley, Brenna Cohoon of Downers Grove South, and a pack of Huskies including Audrey Mendrys, Molly Morton, Jana Dawson, and Lucy Westlake.
The Finish
Coming to the finish is Katelynne Hart, who wins the Twilight for a 4th consecutive year with a time of 16:26, Maggie Gamboa finishes in 4th for the Huskies. Ashley Heidenrich of Waubonsie takes 8th. Sophia Sandy of Metea Valley finishes in 21st while Kayla Zimmer of Naperville Central trakes 23rd.
