Welcome back to the ice rink for another season of hockey and we start our coverage off with quite a big game… The warriors facing off against valley rival, Neuqua. The cats sit 7-2 early in the year while WV is 6-2-1.

First Period

3 minutes left in the first, Neuqua leading 1-0 but the warriors look to even it up as Tony Campise gets the feed and fires from straight on but Carter Winborne falls on the shot.

Neuqua on the offensive now with seconds left in the first period. Joey Mulcare moves through some defenders before flicking the wrist just so to hit the back of the net. Neuqua doubles their lead 2-0.

Second Period

10 minutes left in the second period and Waubonsie’s Will Troy shows he isn’t just a top area golfer… he also cane do some work on the ice. Nolan Cummings sets him up and he gets it past Neuqua’s netminder to cut in to the cats lead, trailing 2-1.

Still in the second period and the warriors starting to show some skill in this one. Shivum Aery leaves the pass for Zack Pearce who glides in and goes top shelf to even this game up at 2 apiece.

The warriors go from trailing by 2 to getting three unanswered goals to take the lead in the 2nd period. Tony Campise takes a shot, it’s deflected but CJ Cirko is there for the rebound and the warriors now lead 3-2.

Third Period

In to the final stanza, warriors still leading by 1 with fifteen minutes left. Chaos ensues in front of the net with a few warriors getting their sticks on the puck. Ethan Wipff gets the short feed and doesn’t think twice, as he extends the lead ,4-2 now.

The cats aren’t going away quietly though. Just under 15 minutes to go, Joey Melcare gets the puck against the glass and dishes it out to Joe Costello, he fires away and suddenly Neuqua trails by just 1 again.

Twelve minutes left and the warriors put this game on ice. Alexander Wilder on the break away goes one v one with Neuqua netminder and Wilder wins, notching the warriors fifth goal, securing the victory over the cats 5-3.
