Regional quarter final action at the home of the Chicago Bandits Softball team and the Montini Catholic Broncos. The 16th seeded horses host the 18th seeded Warriors from Waubonsie Valley.
First Inning
We start in the bottom of the first. Mintini’s Emily Alexander hits a bouncer to third. Despite Delany Summers best effort to get the out, Alexander is safe.
Emily Alexander at third for the bronces with Lauren Latoria at the dish. She hits a single to short but on the throw to first, Alexander scores to get Montini on the board 1-0.
Second Inning
Top of the second now, Waubonsie looking to even the playing field with a runner on third. Emily Pavuk slices one to center to bring in Casey Dimech and the game is tied early at 1.
Third Inning
Bottom of the third, still tied. Elyse Spaccapaniccia hits one straight back to Warriors pitcher Emily Olson who has the quick reaction to save her face and the out. She’s feeling that on her hand just a little bit.
Fourth Inning
Top of the fourth, Ellie Laub at the plate and she is swinging for the fences. She hits a high one to center but Natalie Rivera on the run snags it for the out and game is still tied at 1 apiece.
Sixth Inning
We starting developing a pitching duel in the 6th. Warrior Emily Olson started the game and still feeling good. She strikes out Mary Kate Richardson to end the 6th inning still all tied up.
Eighth Inning
That pitching duel pushed us to extra innings… top of the 8th, Waubonsie’s Carli Kuta hits a bouncer to center field to get runners at 1 and 2 for WV.
Few runners later, and Ellie Laub steps up to the plate with the bases juiced. She takes the opportunity but doesn’t get enough of it. Pitcher Cynthia Ng snags it and gets the out to first to end the threat and the inning.
Ninth Inning
To the top of the 9th and Cynthia Ng is still feeling good. She gets Emma Maier out swinging to end the inning. Ng also started the game for the Broncos on the mound.
Broncoes turn in the 9th with Ava Franklin up to bat. Warriors Emma Maier is still awake behind the plate. She throws the gear off to make the sliding catch almost going through Delany Summers, getting the out.
Tenth Inning
Bottom of the 10th now, Lauren Lastoria up to the plate with a runner at first. She slaps one to left center for the single, pushing Alyssa Filkowski to third.
Next up, Elysa Spaccapaniccia. She does exactly with the Bronocs need. Pulls a single to left that gets just past the short stop to bring in Filkowski for the tie breaking, game winning run. Montini Catholic advances in regionals to play Downers Grove South in the semifinals.
