West Aurora vs. Naperville North Girls Regional Final Soccer 5.17.19

Every body do some stretches and possibly open up your umbrellas… or hop around to get warm because we have a regional final soccer game to get to with Naperville North facing off against West Aurora.

First Half

And we jump right in to it. North looking to strike first… well Junior Hannah Martin is. 4th minute and she sends one towards the net but the Blackhawk goalie pushes it away to keep the board empty.

Just a minute later and West Aurora on the attack now. Olivia McPherson bends one towards the net but Amanda Johnson snags the ball to keep the game scoreless.

6th minute of action, and West Aurora’s Kiara McPherson streaking down the field she makes a move past goalie Amanda Johnson and gets the open net goal to put the Blackhawks in the lead.

Just two minutes later and Hannah Martin looks to tie it up. She sends one rolling and the West Aurora goalie looks to have it but it rolls between her legs and past the line for a Huskie goal, game tied up at 1s.

13th minute of play and Martin is at it again off a throw in, she turns and gets her foot on it. Just enough to get it into the goal, Huskies now leading 2-1.

Martin looking for a hat trick early in this one off a pass from Emily Dulik. She sends one towards the net but the ball is stopped and the score stays at 2-1 at intermission.

Second Half

Second half of action, 45th minute, Olivia McPherson wrangles a free ball on the run, She shoots and Amanda Johnson tries to deflect it away but it finds the back of the net and the game is knotted up once more at 2.

But not to worry, remember that hat trick I mentioned before? Martin would get it after poking the ball free and taking the goal tender on and she finds twice for the hat trick and the Huskie regional final win. Naperville North moves on to play Metea Valley in the Section Semifinals.
