Kittenville exists to create a safe and welcoming environment for abandoned and neglected cats by caring for them in foster homes before they are adopted. They are dedicated to transforming feline animal welfare by setting higher standards in the way cats are treated through science-based methodology and technology. They strive to end the overpopulation of homeless cats through compassionate solutions and practices, advocacy, and education.
Fostering cats and kittens
Kittenville is a foster organization focused primarily on cats and kittens. The rescue takes cats from shelters that need to be moved into foster care, where they can receive the care they need before being spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ultimately adopted into permanent homes.
But there’s another important part of Kittenville’s mission: helping people understand what it really means to bring a cat into their home.
“Not everybody’s had a cat before,” explains Susan O’Day, the President, Founder, and Chief Kitten Officer of Kittenville. And while people sometimes assume cats are simply like dogs, their needs and behaviors can be very different.
Kittenville works to educate adopters about what to expect and how to create a successful home environment for their new feline family member. The goal is to give both cats and their people the tools they need for a long, happy relationship.
