The Path to Recovery Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2014 whose primary mission is to help support, educate and promote guidance for individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders and is in the process of being recognized as a Recovery Community Organization (RCO).

More specific goals of their mission include:

  • Helping to support families in crisis who are dealing with substance abuse.
  • Educating and informing families of the available services for Detox, Rehabilitation and Recovery/Sober Homes and what the differences are.
  • Acting as navigators to help find the right level of service for their loved ones.

PATH currently runs weekly family support group meetings in Wheaton and Aurora and bi-weekly meetings in Naperville, Plainfield and Frankfort. These meetings are run on an informal basis where they are able to provide a safe place for individuals and families to ask questions or just share information with trained individuals who have experience dealing with these issues. They also offer a modified version of harm reduction and make available free supplies of Narcan, fentanyl testing strips and drug testing kits.

In addition, PATH provides online support from their website,, for the following:

  • Listings of facilities providing detox, rehabilitation, recovery, sober homes and alternative treatment options.
  • Listings of locations providing mental health treatment and counseling.
  • Prescription drug disposal locations.
  • Work force development resources and locations.
  • Helplines.
  • Educational topics and training resources.
  • Additional family support groups and websites.

The organization also provides social media support through their Facebook private and public pages and email and phone support.
