The Riverwalk Commission promotes, encourages and guides the development and use of the Riverwalk. The commission includes representatives from the community, Park District, City Council, City staff, and Riverwalk Foundation. The Riverwalk Commission also has a Planning, Design and Construction committee which develops, recommends and implements plans for the expansion, extension and improvement of the Riverwalk in accordance with the development guidelines and studies. The Commission recently conducted a large-scale community engagement process to provide input into a new master plan that will guide their work over the next ten years to 2031 and the 50th anniversary of the Riverwalk’s founding.

Considered the “crown jewel” of Naperville, the Riverwalk is a place of beauty and tranquility along the West Branch of the DuPage River. It features 1.75 miles of brick paths, fountains, bridges, meeting and event places, outdoor sculpture and artwork, recreational facilities, and celebratory memorials. The Riverwalk is a preferred destination and an ideal place to stroll, unwind and reflect. Come relax and enjoy the scene. The Riverwalk has something for everyone. Best of all, it’s a place to be enjoyed for generations to come.

The Riverwalk Commission is made up of 12 Commissioners who meet every second Wednesday at 7:30 AM at the Naperville Municipal Center.
