About the Resiliency Institute
The Resiliency Institute is a nonprofit organization using permaculture education and design to foster nature and human connection, grow food security and build resilient communities. Permaculture is an ecological and ethics based philosophy for designing resilient lifestyles, landscapes and communities that care for people, care for the earth and care for the future.
The Institute offers classes and workshops based on Permaculture Ethics in a wide range of topics that focus on daily living and caring for ourselves and others, reconnecting with our Earth and our seasons, sustainability and closed loop systems thinking and design, and building sustainable communities. Each course is designed to help people build resilient lifestyles, resilient landscapes, and resilient communities.
Educational outreach programs include sponsoring and exhibiting at local community events and conferences, giving talks at libraries, for garden clubs and cooking clubs, businesses, classrooms, and other groups and venues. The organization also offers “walk and learn” and “work and learn” get-togethers at the fruit tree guild gardens, in the edible forest gardens, and in local parks and forest preserves, for some hands-on learning and social time.
