Severe thunderstorms possible for Naperville area today
The Naperville area is under a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday through 2 p.m.
The National Weather Service says destructive winds of up to 80 mph are possible, along with the chance for hail and tornadoes. Rainfall could lead to localized flooding. The severe level threat for the area is a 3 out of 5.
The NWS advises having multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
Liquor commission recommends lifting Naperville happy hour ban
The Naperville Liquor Commission at its meeting Thursday unanimously voted to recommend removing the city’s restrictions on happy hour, a matter which will now go to Naperville City Council for consideration.

Great Harvest Bread Co., Elegante Salons & Day Spas close
Two longtime Naperville businesses recently closed for good.
Great Harvest Bread Company shut down on Friday, Aug. 7. The business announced on social media it would be closing after more than 35 years in Naperville Plaza at 192 W. Gartner Road. Owners noted their lease and franchise agreement were expiring, and attempts to sell the business were unsuccessful.
Elegante Salons & Day Spas closed its doors on Saturday, July 25. In a post on social media, the business at 15 S. Naper Blvd. noted that its stylists would continue working in the surrounding area. The spa had been in operation in Naperville for more than 50 years. No reason was given for the closure.
Naperville’s Sarah Adam returns to USA Wheelchair Rugby Championship roster
Naperville North alum Sarah Adam was officially announced as a member of the Team USA Wheelchair Rugby roster for the 2026 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.
Adam was also a key member of the silver-medal U.S Wheelchair Rugby Team in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Naperville Neighborly Day brings community celebration to downtown Naperville
A neighborly celebration returned to downtown Naperville on Sunday with the help of DuPagePads.
The Naperville Neighborly Day block party took over Chicago Avenue from Washington Street to Main Street. The event originally started 10 years ago as a celebration for The Lantern’s 50th anniversary and was called “Old Naperville Day.”
