Naperville Central High School received a bomb threat this afternoon, prompting a hold-in-place order and “secure building modes,” according to LeeAnn Betz, director of communications for Naperville School District 203.

Investigation ongoing

Linda LaCloche, director of communications for the city of Naperville, said Naperville police responded to Naperville Central at 2 p.m. after receiving the threat, which Betz said was to the exterior of the school.

Betz said students and staff were safe and supervised during the response.

‘No immediate threat’

Police found “no immediate threat,” according to Betz. The school resumed normal operations following the police assessment.

To be cautious, Naperville Central also delayed student dismissal today, Betz said.

She noted that student and staff safety is the district’s highest priority.

“We know situations like this can be unsettling for students, families and staff. We are grateful to the Naperville Police Department for its immediate response and partnership, and to our school community for its patience, cooperation and calm throughout the afternoon,” she said in a statement.
