In 2016, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce launched “Four Under 40” to recognize young professionals making an impact in the community. To celebrate the ten-year anniversary, the Chamber is looking back at the first four honorees and seeing where they are today.

In this special “Inside the Chamber” interview, Erin Doepel Wikstrom reflects on her 10-year journey of leadership and life.

The impact of early recognition

Being named a “Four Under 40” honoree in 2016 was a meaningful and humbling experience. Surrounded by peers she respected, the recognition validated her hard work and commitment to both her career and community.

Even today, the award remains a source of pride—displayed in her office as a reminder of that moment and the journey since.

A career in finance

Wikstrom began her career in the Financial Planning Residency Program at Raymond James, where she served as a case worker on complex Financial Plans for Advisors in the field. In 2011, she began serving clients throughout the country. To support her growing client base, she completed rigorous coursework to receive the prestigious certification as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional.

Her practice focuses on strategic goal planning while incorporating tax-efficient strategies. In 2016, she was formally invited to join The Doepel Group as a partner to and the successor of her mother, Ruth Doepel. Together, as Doepel & Wikstrom Wealth Management, they diligently serve their clients,  helping individuals live well throughout their careers, retirement, and beyond.

Today, Wikstrom is Senior Vice President, Wealth Management at Doepel & Wikstrom Wealth Management of Raymond James.

A must-read on money mindset

One book that has influenced Wikstrom’s perspective is “The Psychology of Money.” Accessible and engaging, the book explores how people think about money—from daily habits to long-term investing.

Its storytelling approach makes it valuable for readers at any level of financial literacy, offering practical insights into navigating financial decisions and market changes.

In addition to reflecting on the original Four Under 40 honorees, this year, the Chamber will welcome a special class of 40 Under 40.
