Illinois Teacher Salary Increase

Teachers in Illinois will see a salary increase starting next year. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a new law yesterday that will raise the minimum salary for full-time teachers to $40,000 by the 2023-2024 school year. This means teachers will begin seeing gradual increases in the 2020-2021 school year. The previous state law set the minimum salary at $10,000 for teachers with a bachelor’s degree. According to a 2018 report from the National Education Association, Illinois ranks 11th for teacher salaries compared to the rest of the U.S.

Friends & Family CPR

Last night over 30 community members attended the “Friends & Family” CPR class at the Knox Presbyterian Church. The event was put on in response to a church member who suffered a heart attack earlier this year. Rudi Tanck was visiting his son in Alabama when he went into cardiac arrest, but luckily for him, his son knew how to perform CPR. Rudi, feeling lucky to be alive, wanted to pay it forward and teach others how to perform the live-saving act.
