School Closings
Both school district’s 203 and 204 have announced cancelations for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 due to the anticipated extreme weather. These closures include all district buildings and staff. Today District 204 has cancelled all after school activities for all grades through Thursday. But information on today’s high school after-school activities will be communicated directly from those schools. As for District 203, all after school activities will be cancelled starting today at 5 p.m. through January 31, which includes the high school programs on Thursday. Garbage and Recycling Canceled
The City of Naperville has some cancellations of their own. Recycling and garbage collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of this week. Currently, the city’s contractor, Groot, plans for a delayed service to start on Thursday at 7 a.m. instead of Wednesday, when record-breaking low wind chills approach Naperville. The Electronics Recycling Center is also closed both Wednesday and Thursday, along with the Recycling Drop-Off Center’s closure tomorrow. More cancelations will be communicated through the City of Naperville and NCTV17.
Chinese New Year
The third annual Jiaozi Fest was a success this weekend with over 600 people coming together to celebrate the Chinese New Year. An event that brings communities together, guests enjoyed traditional dishes including Chinese dumplings, known as Jiaozi. Three rooms and 29 stations were set up for guests to learn and participate in raffles and traditional activities. From board games and puzzles to making their own Jiaozi. Chinese New Year begins on February 5 but early celebrations have already begun.
