Teachers Union New Contract

Last night, a new one-year contract with District 203’s teacher’s union, the Naperville Unit Education Association, or NUEA, was approved. The new contract will provide a base salary increase of 1.75 percent. The average returning teacher salary increasing by 3.88 percent. The contract will continue the collaboration between administration and educators to make the best decisions for students and the community.

Softball Field Amendments

Also of note at that meeting- the board approved an amendment to the Naperville Central Varsity Softball Field renovations. The Knoch Park site will now include a circular drive and additional pathways. This will improve safety and add better accessibility. With the amendment, the project’s original $824,700 bid from Lite Construction now increases by $151,000. The Naperville Park District is in an inter-governmental agreement with the school district. They will reimburse $75,000 for the accessibility improvements.

Earth Day Pick Up

For Earth Day yesterday, Springbrook Prairie took part by hosting a “Pick-Me-Up.” Around 20 volunteers came out to help pick up litter found in the forest preserve. With winter passed and snow melted, a lot more trash can be found. Volunteers aren’t just limited to helping during Earth Week. You can do your part by calling the preserve and set up a day and time when you can get out and help keep our earth clean.
