The 95th Street Library will be getting a new look.
A $2.7 million renovation project is set to begin in April for the 13-year-old building that’s now in need of some upgrades.
Those include the installation of new flooring and furniture and more technology focused space- like a recording studio, green screen room and a teen space with a gaming center.
More electrical outlets and small study rooms will be added, as well as the dedication of a second floor quiet zone separate from a first floor social zone, a need requested by library patrons.
“We’re thinking that with having the teens downstairs, a special place for them, those who do need to take a break from their day of school and relax a little bit before they get to their library work, they can do that downstairs and we’ll be able to keep the upper area a quiet area because there are always adults who are working when the teens arrive,” said Karen Dunford, 95th Street Library Manager.
Electrical work is expected to begin in late March.
The renovations should be complete in the fall.
