A Bolingbrook man has been arrested in connection with the 2022 shooting death of a man from Naperville.

Sammy L. Gibson, 58, was arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by U.S. Marshals on November 21, according to a press release from the Bolingbrook Police Department. Gibson was then transferred into the custody of the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Wednesday afternoon.

Naperville man was shot multiple times

According to authorities, just after 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 6, 2022, Bolingbrook police responded to the 600 block of West Boughton Road after receiving a report of “suspicious circumstances.” Once they arrived, they discovered a dead man in a vehicle in the parking lot. He would later be identified as Eric Stubblefield, 38, from Naperville.

Police say Stubblefield had been shot multiple times.

Multiple agencies aid in shooting death investigation

The arrest of Gibson was made, authorities said, after an “intensive investigation by Bolingbrook Police Detectives,” who partnered with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service in their efforts.

Gibson has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicide.
