A possible sales tax rate increase is on the table. The Naperville City Council will consider raising the city’s home rule sales tax rate from 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent. That would bring in an estimated $4.46 million dollars more for the city.

Council will also consider increasing the hotel and motel tax rate from 4.4 percent to 5.5 percent and applying that tax to online rental companies like Airbnb and VRBO.

And a three-day Italian festival could be coming to Naper Settlement this August if council agrees to reopen the special events calendar and approve the Festa Italiana Event scheduled for Friday, August 3, through Sunday August 5.
