Naperville City Council recognized the Aurora shooting tragedy at its latest meeting.

“We send our deepest condolences to the families of the fallen and those who were injured,” said Mayor Steve Chirico. “We denounce these senseless acts of violence wherever they occur. Hate has no home in our community or in our world and we stand together with our neighbors in Aurora to remind our community and the world that we are stronger together.”

Chirico also thanked the first responders on the scene. Naperville assisted in the crisis by sending about 20 police personnel, about 20 fire personnel, and four ambulances.

The mayor’s comments were followed by a moment of silence to honor those who were killed in the incident.

A GoFundMe set up to assist the families of the deceased had reached $150,000 as of February 21.
