The most recent District 203 Board of Education meeting was the final one for longtime member Mike Jaensch, who is relocating to Texas for work after serving on the board since 2007.
“It has been a true privilege and honor to work with all of you,” said Jaensch, a pilot with American Airlines. “And I leave at a good time for me personally career-wise, but also I leave at a good time for the district, because I know there’s six fellow board members that truly have their heart in the right place and they’re doing it for the right reasons, which will always lead to success.”
Now the board will work to fill his vacancy, which they hope to do by mid-July.
Residents interested in the un-paid position can submit a one-page letter of intent, along with their resume, to the board secretary by June 15 for consideration. At that time current board members will conduct interviews and appoint a new member, who will serve until Jaensch’s term is up in 2019.
Also at the meeting, the board appointed Josh Louis as the new principal of Steeple Run Elementary School. Louis has been serving as assistant principal at Washington Junior High since 2015.
