DuPage County and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County outlined over $275,000 in taxpayer savings, thanks to shared services.
At a press conference this morning, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin and President of the Forest Preserve Joe Cantore highlighted some areas where the county and forest preserve were able to work together, and save money. These include things like software licensing, shared facilities and GIS mapping services.
These saved funds will now be used in other areas of the county’s budget, something Chairman Cronin views as necessary considering the uncertainty surrounding state funding.
“This is the new normal. There isn’t going to be more money available for local governments to provide services. I think people are living in a fantasy if they think there’s going to be more money. I think it is incumbent upon us elected leaders in local government to find ways to do more with less,” said Chairman Cronin.
Around $200,000 dollars will be saved each year through this joint effort.
