Holiday Happenings Around Naperville

It’s that time of year and City of Naperville is ushering in the holiday season in style.

Starting Christmas early, the Christkindlmarket Naperville is open through December 24.

“You will see a little bit of your hometown and some of the Christkindl market of the traditional German arts and crafts and things and food that you can buy, so it will be very, very fun for everyone,” said Rena Tamayo-Calabrese, president and CEO of Naper Settlement.

The market will feature 47 vendors including three local favorites. And for the first time this year, you can pick up your own Naperville souvenir mug.

And on the Riverwalk, little ones can meet the big guy at the Santa House starting December 1.

“Santa’s elves are in there helping, and Santa is amazing,” said Sue Omanson, community development manager with the Naperville Park District. “He takes so much time with each child and you can take a picture with him or you can buy one for $8.”

You can also take your family out to enjoy Naperville Sunrise Rotary’s fifth annual Naperlights Event Thursdays through Sundays until December 23.

“If you’re thinking that tree gets bigger, that’s because it is,” Tamayo-Calabrese said. “Every year one of the great ways that they help us is by growing, literally, that tree. So this year the tree will be taller. There will be more things and displays out there for you to enjoy.”

You can also enjoy the annual Little Friends Holiday Parade of Lights on December 2.

And mark your calendars. On December 12 Naperville will light its first ice menorah at the amphitheater on the Riverwalk.

Activities abound for everyone during the most wonderful time of the year.
