Naperville burglary suspect crashes stolen car in Lisle, still at large

A suspect is still at large after crashing a stolen vehicle and fleeing on foot early Thursday morning. The suspect is being sought in connection to a home burglary in Naperville.

Car alarm alerts homeowners 

Around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Naperville police were called to the 1000 block of Kennesaw Court after residents reported their vehicle stolen, according to a spokesperson for the Naperville Police Department. 

The residents informed police that they were awakened by the sound of a car alarm, before watching an unknown individual drive away in their Volvo XC90.

Police say the suspect had entered the home from a first-floor window, stolen a wallet and key FOB, then left the scene.  

Car linked to burglary spotted around 2 a.m.

According to a social media post by Lisle police, the vehicle stolen in the burglary was later located near the intersection of Illinois Route 53 and Short Street around 2 a.m. 

The driver fled, subsequently crashing the vehicle and taking off on foot. He was last seen behind the Blake Lamb Funeral Home.

As of Friday, April 11 at noon, the suspect has not been found despite searches using drones, K-9 units, and additional cooperation from neighboring agencies.

Burglary suspect in his late teens or early twenties, authorities say

Law enforcement officials describe the suspect as a Black male in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a black hoodie. 

As investigations are ongoing, residents are urged to stay vigilant and to notify police of any suspicious activity.
