Two Innovation Awards Won:
The Naperville Park District’s Information Technology Director has won two innovation awards.
On September 18, Omar Sandoval received the Technical Innovation Awards at the Special Districts Summit/Midwest in Chicago.
The first was the Operations Category award, given to Sandoval for his work developing the park district’s 311 Parks system. This enables visitors and staff to report any issues out at the parks through their mobile device, so that they can be quickly addressed, and easily tracked.
The second was the Citizens Category award, which he received for his efforts to bring free Wi-Fi to eight different park district facilities and parks, thanks to a partnership with WOW! and Digital Lobby.
Tech Connect Program:
The Special Districts/Midwest program began in 2017 to create a way for local governmental special districts to better connect and share technology ideas. The Naperville Park District is the first district to receive two of their innovation awards.
