New Riverwalk Parks Face Delays

According to discussion at the latest Riverwalk Commission meeting, the construction of two new parks coming to the Riverwalk has been delayed.

Harmony Park was supposed to be completed by Labor Day – but the company that builds the musical playground equipment to create the park had a factory fire, which pushed back delivery.

Jaycees Park, an outdoor Wi-Fi workspace, was supposed to be finished this fall, but the City of Naperville has decided to hold off on breaking ground until all of the short-term donation pledges for its funding have been collected.

Construction on Harmony Park will now begin after Labor Day, and take about three weeks to complete, while Jaycees Park may not be finished until next spring.

“I think he’s got about four outstanding items that he’s trying to collect and if that comes in in the next couple of weeks we’ll get started,” said Riverwalk Commission Chairman Geoff Roehll. “If it pushes later in the season we’ll have to figure what we want to do before the winter months and then look to after the winter months.”

Something else to watch out for is the new report on Moser Tower, which should come out within the next month and will contain results of the latest round of engineering tests.
