It’s a windy and sunny day for some boys golf as Metea Valley and Benet Academy tee off at Carriage Greens. The Redwings are coming off a second-place finish at the McGonagle, while the Mustangs hope to keep their upward swing after beating DeKalb. This highlight is sponsored by BMO.
Good start for both teams on hole one
Benet junior Charlie Davenport is in a little mess on hole one, but that’s no problem as long his shot hits the green. Davenport recovers to save par to start the day.
Par is the theme on hole one, and Finn Reilly is the next contestant to pick one up for the Redwings.
Kyle Bucher from Metea Valley, come on down! You may not be on the Price is Right, but a par is the right way to get the ball rolling in this round.
Davenport continues to step his game up
Jumping to the 4th hole and Davenport is going from par to birdie. The performance from the McGonagle champion helps him to a strong score of 37.
Metea Valley’s Rahil Shah lines up his approach shot, which lands in his favor. It gets better from here because Shah pars it in and goes on to a round of 45.
On the seventh hole, Bucher tries the lag putt that takes a solid roll for the pin. Bucher picks up another par and finishes with a 39.
We finish up on hole number nine with Nick Liedel with a fairway shot that goes over the pond and onto the dance floor. Liedel golfs a 41 on the afternoon.
Mustang Patrick Davis wants to end his round on a high note and he does so with a long birdie putt that helps him to a score of 43.
Benet continues its strong tee off to the season
The day was all Benet with everyone contributing, including former Mustang Nick Schroeder who is now rocking the Redwing colors. Benet boys golf continues its strong start to the seasons taking it over the Metea Valley 159-170 after a blustery round on the links.
