We head over to the DeKalb regional with Benet Academy facing off against former DVC school Lake Park. The Redwings sit at 23 and 8 on the season with the 2 seed while Lake Park holds the 7 seed.

We start early first, Montrell Perry gets open on the wing for the opening basket, lancers up 3-0.

Benet’s turn to get on the board, Trevor Casmeres shot comes up short but Bennett Hickey has his back, gets the lay in, redwings trail by 1.

Closing seconds on the first, wings in transition, Colin Crothers finds Casmere. He stops on a dime, side steps the Defense and nails the three at the buzzer. Benet leads 15-7 after 1.

Early in the second, we get some pick and roll action with the lancers. Max Ellenbecker with a comfortable lay up cutting the wings lead to 6.

Late in the second and Kendrick Tchoua showing off his visision. Shane O’Mara gets the easy lay in. Wings going into the break up 10.

To the third, LPs Montrell Perry surveys the court and dishes to Montiel at the top of the key for three. Mentiel with 15 points on the night, 12 from three point land.

Kendrick Tchoua with the interception and the coast to coast drive, gets the hoop and the harm at Benet leads 33-31. Tchoua lead all scoreres with 25 points.

Late third quarter action where LP is surging, scoring 16 points including 4 threes. This one included from Luke Sgarbossa, Lancers still trailing 37-34.

Close game in the fourth quarter. Sgarbossa looking for someone.. he finds Joey Czaja for a fifteen footer, LP down 46-42.

A minute later, Perry drives and finds Czaja. The Lancer coming up big in the fourth with a wide open three, only down 2 now.

After both teams exchange late free throws, we are even at 50s and Benet has a chance to win. Bennet Hickey drives and is able to muscle up a shot but just misses meaning we are going to over time.

Both teams jittery in OT, about 2 minutes left. Sgarbossa driving and dishes to perry. He fakes and creates space for the big three. Lake Park leads 53-50 after trailing most of the game.

20 seconds left and Tchoua keeping his senior season alive, he weaves in for the and one, Benet down 1.

With point 6 seconds left, Benet inbounding with a chance… cashmere gets the inbound pass with a corner fadeaway three but its offline, ending the redwings season 58-55, Lake Park advances to sectionals.
