Senior night at Neuqua Valley can only mean one thing: the season is coming to a close. As the metea valley mustangs jump in, both teams look to fine tune before the post season.
100 Freestyle
We pick things up with the 100 yard freestyle and it’s a tight race in the beginning but in the last stretch, Metea’s Laurel Bludgen is able to pull ahead, tapping in 53.76 seconds. Neuqua’s Izzie Harder and Ashley Sterchele finish 2nd and 3rd.
100 BackStroke
We start in the water for this race, the 100 yard backstroke. Things look pretty even in the beginning but the ending is a battle! It’s mustang v mustang as Madison Hastings just edges out teammate Emily Hannon. Neuqua’s Jenna Anderson finishes in third.
200 Freestyle Relay
It’s relay time, the 200 freestyle relay to be more specific. First in the water and out to an early lead is Metea’s Kellie Willwhite. Neuqua’s Teagan Michalek dives in to try and gain some ground on the mustangs. For the anchors, Metea’s Aimme Patterson and Neuqua’s Izzie Harder coming to the end but it’ll be the mustangs who finish first and pick up 8 big points.
100 Butterfly
The night however, belonged to the wildcats. Tiffanie Ruan dominates the 100 butterfly and she helped Neuqua Valley win the 400 yard freestyle relay later in the night to edge out the mustangs, 104-79.
