We get a valley school show down at Waubonsie Valley as the 4-0 in conference warriors welcome the 1-4 in conference Metea Valley Mustangs. WV looks to stay undefeated in the DVC before playing all the schools again.

First Set

First point, and it’s a quick one. After Metea somehow gets the ball over after a rough serve receive Waubonsie goes 1 2 3 with Melissa Walden notching the first kill of the night.

Warriors now leading by 3 in the first set and Trinity Evans looks to make it four but Metea’s Gabriela Zawadzki blocks the attempt at the net. Mustangs trailing by 2.

It’s another quick point for the warriors as Aryanna Ruffin gets set up for the quick kill in the middle. Waubonsie leading 10-7.

But don’t discount the mustangs just yet. Annika Altekruse serving up an ace, Metea Valley trailing by just 1.

Metea continues with the hot serving as Megan DeAngelo tips the net and throws WV off, Mustangs down 15-12.

But on set point for the warriors, a back and fourth battle comes out in favor of Waubonsie after they get a couple blocks at the net to seal the first set victory 25-16.

Second Set

Waubonsie’s turn to get some serving points in their favor. Gabi Croll opens up the second set with an ace.

Serving is just something else tonight as Metea responds with an ace of their own courtesy of Cora Ondrus.

Warriors leading 6-5 early in the second set, Melissa Walden sets up Aryanna Ruffin with the kill that finds space. WV extends their lead 7-5.

Warriors still leading and Gabi Croll gets another ace in the second set, her second of the game.

Metea still fighting though. Little back and fourth action until Gabriela Zawakzki gets up at the net for the quick slam. Mustangs trailing 20-13.

More back and fourth action as Metea tries to get the ball over but Waubonsie’s netminders seem to have a different plan at Aryanna Ruffin blocks the ball helping WV win set 2 and the match 25-16, 25-16.
