Naperville Central and Benet Academy facing off in the Sectional Seimfinals at Bolingbrook high school. The redhawks making their first sectional appearance in 10 years while the redwings are familiar with this setting.

First Set

Both the Redhawks and Redwings off to strong starts, Benet Academy going up 7-2 after Sophie Gregus bounces one in the corner.

Hattie Monson serving for Benet and the redhawks set up Kayla Closset for an attempt, the wings dig it out and then a little back and fourth happens at the net until Closset and Grace Bower block the wing attempt for the redhawk point trailing 14-7.

Benet trying to pull away but Central putting up a strong fight as Madeline Bylak goes for the kill but Rachel Muisenga and Ann Marie Remmes throw up the wall to keep Benet moving in the right direction, leading 17-8.

Gregus is on a roll for the redwings, getting 14 kills on the night, she adds another one with a powerful kill, 22-10.

Gregus would be the one to end the first set, despite centrals best defensive effort, with the kill, wings take it 25-12.

Second Set

Sophie Gregus would continue her hitting streak in to the second set, after a battle at the net the wings set back up and Gregus gets it down, benet leads 4-2.

Benet’s Kyla Kenney going for the kill but Central starts figure out benet’s playbook. Lauren Umbright and Grace Butler throw up the block to stop the attempt and get the point.

Naperville doing everything they can to stay alive, in the second set. Closset keeps things moving as she winds up for a monster kill. Redhawks trailing 20-15.

But the redwings would just be too much for the redhawks. After a long rally on set point, Kyla Kenney puts the match away with a kill. Benet Academy moves on to face Waubonsie Valley in the Sectional Finals at Bolingbrook.
