Sectional Boys Lacrosse action with Naperville Central. The Redhawks face Downers Grove South in the first round of the tournament. Winner advances to play number one seeded Glenbard West.

First Quarter

Naperville Central is the first to strike. Matt Kaszuba, off a feed from Max Fuedo, opens up scoring with 4 minutes left to play in the first.

After DGS ties it up, Central looks to regain the lead. Off another Fuedo assist, Zachary Rimbos has the quick reaction for Central, 2-1 now.

Second Quarter

Second quarter and South knots the game up again. Audie Brackett finds twine with 10 minutes to play until the break, game is 2-2.

Back and fourth battle, in the second. Jake Stegman from far out shoots from the side to push central out in front again. At the break, Central leads 5-4.

Third Quarter

8 and a half to play in the third. Downers Grove South looking to tie it up again. Jay Cremer takes a shot, it’s blocked but Davis Johnson grabs the rebound and gets it to go this time. Game knotted at 5s.

Now DGS takes the lead, just under 7 to play in the third. Steven Mucha scoops up the low pass, turns and fires. 6-5 DGS.

Still a give and take game. Central trailing by one until Patrick Riordan scores to bring the game to 7s at the end of the third.

Fourth Quarter

Final stanza and David Johnson breaks the tie for Downers Grove. They pass around the key until he gets the ball to push his team back in the lead once more 8-7.

But Central isn’t going away yet. It’s Fuedos turn to actually score rather than assist. With 10 and a half minutes to go in the game, it’s tied at 8s.

William Palmer from distance would be the deciding factor for DGS. He breaks another tie as Downers Grove advances in the tournament, ending Centrals season 10-9.
